Accommodations are based in local villages through homestays. Alternative accommodation can also be organised. Slackpacking option available at additional charge.

Meet Your Guide
Tutani Mponga is a local tour guide with over 20 years of experience. Growing up on the Wild Coast, he fell in love with nature and in 2003 received training as a guide through the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism. In 2007 he achieved a Level 1 certificate from FAGASA. He then graduated through the South African College of Tourism in 2011 and achieved a Level 3 Tracker certificate.
Tutani has been guiding along the coastline ever since. Throughout your journey, Tutani will share numerous tales of the Wild Coast and the local people – stories that have been passed down from generation to generation.

What is a Village Based Home Stay?
The best way to experience South Africa’s tribal cultures is to traditional African accommodation in one of the many cultural villages that can be found throughout the country.
Sleeping in Mpondo traditional huts allows our clients to immerse themselves in the Wild Coast way of life and creates an opportunity for them to truly get to know the locals.
While Khasa Wild Adventures promotes local accommodation, other accommodation can also be provided to suit the needs of our clients.

About the Wild Coast
The Eastern Cape Wild Coast stretches along a rugged coastline characterized by untouched shorelines, ship wrecks and rich traditional Xhosa culture.
The Wild Coast showcases exquisite coastal scenery and outdoor excursions suitable for the entire family.
Please do not expect luxury accommodation and porcelain toilets! But you will be sleeping on clean sheets and a comfortable bed. Food will be cooked over wood burning fires using traditional methods and ingredients.

About Your 6 Day Guided Tour
Only *R5,225 per person including:
- accommodation with three meals (dinner, breakfast and packed lunch),
- transport to our starting point,
- all river crossing ferries, and
- guide’s fee.

Day 1: Port St John’s to Ndengane
We depart from Port St. John’s to Magwa Falls, a stunning 144-meter waterfall situated amidst the Magwa Tea Estate. Depending on road accessibility, we may also have the opportunity to explore Angel Falls.
We then transfer to Madlangeni where we begin our hike to Ndengane, passing by the Msikaba Vulture Colony where approximately 170 Cape Vultures nest in the cliffs. Our overnight stay will be at Ndengane in village-based accommodations hosted by Mrs. Ludude.

Day 2: Ndengane to Rhole (14km)
On our journey to Rhole, we will pass by Mbaxeni Waterfall and the Grosvenor shipwreck site, opting for the route through the Garden of Eden so named for her abundance of untouched indegenous flora and many beautiful species of bird and small wildlife that call the area ‘home’.

Day 3: Rhole to Cutwini (21km)
While trekking to Cutwini, hikers will get to enjoy the spectacle of enormous waves crashing against rock formations. Waterfall Bluff, one of the few waterfalls in South Africa that cascades directly into the ocean, is a noteworthy attraction.
Cathedral Rock and Secret Falls are two additional highlights of the tour. Weather permitting, hikers will have several opportunities to swim in the natural rock pools along the way.

Day 4: Cutwini to Manteku (18km)
Today’s hike will feature several highlights starting with Bird Rock. Here guests will be exposed to a diverse array of bird species, with their calls being more prominent than actual sightings.
The breathtaking experience of traversing the rolling hills just before reaching Manteku River will be another highlight. This river offers the opportunity for exploration through canoeing, adding an extra dimension to the adventure.

Day 5: Manteku to Noqhekwane (15km)
The highlight’s of day five’s journey include the enchanting Black Sand, Shell Midden, the flowing Ntafufu River, the Mangxoweni Cave and the scenic Poenskop. Each stop offers a unique and memorable experience on this adventure.

Day 6: Noqhekwane to Port St John’s (7km)
The final stretch from Noqhekwane to Port St. John’s spans 7 kilometers. During this segment, you will pass through Agate Terrace and cross the mighty Mzimvubu River, culminating your journey with scenic views and the completion of the trail.
